The seventh player is not allowed to bat, bowl orwicket keeping. He may act as a substitute fielder or to be a runner for a batsman who becomes unable to run. A runner completes the runs while the batsman continues batting. The seventh man may captain the team. The original player is free to return to the game as soon as he has recovered from his injury.
